What is a YoDerm consultation?
A YoDerm consultation is your online “visit” with a YoDerm dermatologist. You'll fill out a brief medical profile and upload photos so your dermatologist can accurately diagnose you. Within 24 hours, your dermatologist will create a treatment plan that is tailored specifically to your needs. Your prescription medications will be sent to your local preferred pharmacy, or can be shipped directly to your home. You can complete the entire process from the comfort of your own home, and in as little as 10 minutes. You can message your dermatologist or the YoDerm care team whenever you need - we're here to help every step of the way. You also won't find any hidden charges or fees, and the cost of a consultation is always $59 (similar to a “copay” for an in-person doctor visit). You can get started by clicking here.

Follow-up Consultations
What is a follow-up consultation? When is it?
Your dermatologist will need updated photos and feedback on the medications you used, in order to evaluate your progress and prescribe you more medications after you run out. The amount of time between consultations will vary based on the type and amount of medications you are prescribed, but you can typically expect to perform a follow-up consultation 2 to 4 months after your initial consultation.

How often will I submit a follow-up?
Your follow-up consultation is timed with how much medication your doctor gives you. For example, if you are prescribed a medication with 3 months worth of refills, your recommended follow-up date will be 3 months after the prescription is sent. In general, you can expect your follow-up consultations to be less frequent as you progress with your treatment and if your medications prescribed are not changing.

Will I continue on the same treatment plan after my follow-up?
The follow-up consultation allows your dermatologist to see how you are progressing with your treatment plan. If you are improving and have little irritation, your dermatologist will most likely prescribe you the same medication with additional refills. This way you can wait longer before you submit your next follow-up.
If you are not improving or are experiencing side effects (i.e. irritation), your doctor will adjust your treatment plan to your needs. Whenever your physician prescribes a new medication, you should expect to follow-up in 2-4 months.

Pricing and Insurance
How is a YoDerm consultation so affordable?
The short answer is that we save our doctors a significant amount of money and pass the savings onto you, the patient. Dermatology practices are expensive to maintain and time-consuming to manage. By performing the consultation entirely online, the doctor doesn't pay office rent, assistant salaries, or any other overhead. The doctors get to focus on what's important: treating patients. YoDerm saves the doctor time and money, which in turn saves you time and money.

Does YoDerm accept insurance?
YoDerm does not accept insurance for your consultation. However, if you use a health savings account (HSA), an online consultation may qualify as a deductible health expense. Check with your insurance provider to be sure. The medications prescribed in your treatment plan, however, may be covered by your insurance.

Is my medication covered by insurance?
Medications for the treatment of acne are frequently covered by insurance. However, we recommend checking with your pharmacy or insurance company to see if your medications are covered before you pick up your prescription medications from the pharmacy. If they are not covered, please reach out to your YoDerm Care Coordinators! They can submit a prior authorization (a request to your insurance to obtain coverage) or discuss other affordable treatment options.

Why is my prescription on hold? What is a Prior Authorization (PA)?
Your prescription may be placed on hold because it is not in stock at the pharmacy, or if your insurance plan doesn’t cover that specific medication. A Prior Authorization is a request that your doctor’s office can send to your insurance plan to ask them to cover a certain medication. It typically takes 3-5 business days for your insurance to respond with a decision. If appropriate, YoDerm's Care Coordinators will submit one to your insurance provider and notify you with the response.

I hear Latisse can turn my eyes brown! Is this true?
Iris pigmentation increase has been noted in some instances of Latisse use. Getting Latisse solution in the eye increases this risk. It is important to apply Latisse properly on the upper lash line (never on the lower lash line), and to wipe away excess solution.
